Virtual Pose ¨ provides the artist the ability to rotate the model right on the screenÊin order to gain a better understanding of the three dimensional aspect of the pose. And when projected on a wall, large groups of artists can enjoy creating with the next best thing to a real model! For that, it requires QuickTime VR.

CURRENTLY QUICKTIME VR IS NOT COMPATIBLE with QT X. Please download and install QT 7 (MAC and PC) or earlier. Here are some helpful links:

Below are some useful technical notes to help you maximize your creative experience with our Virtual Pose ¨ models:

WHEN DOWNLOADING POSES

If you do not have QuickTime Pro please make sure you are using FIREFOX as your browser in order to save some of our poses onto your hard drive after purchase.

In the case of the poses that are compressed in Stuffit or Zip formats, and if you do not have a decompressor, you may obtain a FREE TRIAL VERSION from this web site. Depending on your operating system, their web site will redirect you to either the MAC or PAC sections.

In either case, you need STUFFIT EXPANDER and it is still FREE OF CHARGE, as of "today."

For your convenience, here are the shortcuts to both, the MAC and PC versions of the STUFFIT EXPANDER:

MAC: http://www.stuffit.com/mac-expander.html

PC: http://www.stuffit.com/win-expander.html

LAUNCHING A POSE

Double click to launch it automatically in the QuickTime Movie Player. You may draw, paint, and sculpt with your Virtual Pose¨ reference image on the monitor screen, projected on a wall, or printed on a sheet of paper.

Installing QuickTime Player 7 on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

If you do not have QuickTime, you may download it for free from the Apple Computers web site.

If you are using VISTA, then you'll need the DEVAL player. Please click to read the Vista Update.

VP2 USERS KINDLY NOTE:

Virtual Pose ¨ 2 is NOT MAC OSX compatible! You must run it under OS 9 (or Windows). If you no longer have OS9 on your system, you can always launch the poses, tutorial movies, and even music, as standalone QT or QTVR movies. For more information, please refer to the article on printing from the CD.

RESIZING/FITTING IMAGE TO COMPUTER MONITOR SCREEN

Once a pose is opened, resize it (reduce) to fit to your computer monitor screen by using the ÒVIEW/FIT TO SCREENÓ command in the QT Movie Player application menu bar. We highly recommend that you increase your screen resolution to its maximum display ability as well.

ROTATING THE POSE

To rotate the model, simply position the cursor in the middle of the

QT Movie Player window, press the (LEFT) click button on the mouse and drag the mouse to the left or to the right. If using a tablet and digitizing pen, press the nib on the surface of the tablet and drag to the left or to the right.

PRINTING THE POSE

Choose ÒFILE/PRINTÓ in the QT Movie Player.

KEYBOARD COMMANDS

The following is a list of keyboard commands that will allow you to fully operate your pose. Please note that you can move the image around inside the QT Movie window after zooming. Also, you can print a zoomed view!

To ZOOM OUT (Reduce Magnification): Press the CONTROL key.

To DRAG image (in ZOOM mode): Press the OPTION key, and drag with the mouse/tablet.

PC

QUICKTIME PRO

Upgrading from QT to QT PRO is OPTIONAL and may not be necessary.

However, given the larger size of the images now available to you, upgrading to QT PRO will allow you to export images in a multitude of formats, and print them FOR VISUAL REFERENCE ONLY in a much larger size than before.

QT Pro Users Please Read: Installing the included QT Player will remove any previous version of QT that may have been installed. This will also invalidate your (OPTIONAL) old QT Pro Key and require that you purchase a new QT Pro Key to maintain your existing "Pro-Level" capabilities. YOU MAY NOT WANT or NEED TO DO THAT... the older version of QT may work "just fine" with the poses. Therefore, before you upgrade (and potentially lose your QT PRO Key privileges, should you happen to own one) we recommend that you double click a pose and take it "around" for a "test-drive." You may also want to check the Apple Computer Company, Inc. QuickTime site (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download) to see if there is an even newer version available.

KNOWN ISSUES (BUG REPORT) AND THEIR SOLUTIONS

MACINTOSH (MAC): As of ÒtodayÓ, it would seem that the QT Movie Player was printing the image a little smaller than in QT Movie Player version 6.5, as well as printing solid tone under the image or to the side. And, if that was not enough, it is printing several copies as well as aÉminiature. We tried printing third party QTVR movies and we got the same results. WeÕve contacted Apple about this and they are aware of the problem.

In the meantime, make sure you set your printer to ÒlandscapeÓ
or ÒportraitÓ as appropriate. Plus, donÕt forget to print ÒPage 1 – 1Ó only!

Here is a direct quote from the response from Apple when we requested permission to distribute QuickTime vs. 6.5 (which, on the MAC, prints flawlessly!)

ÒWe do not permit third parties to distribute older versions of QuickTime under any circumstances.  You may direct your users to the following URL to download older versions of QuickTime"

With that in mind, here are a couple of older versions of QuickTime (for both MAC and PC) available at Apple's web site:

Installing QuickTime Player 7 on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

QuickTime 6.5.2 for MAC

QuickTime 6.0.3 for MAC

Quicktime 6.3 for PC

Quicktime 6.4 for PC

WINDOWS (PC):
Rarely, and depending on your system configuration, double clicking a QuickTime movie (.mov) file (such as a VP pose QTVR pose file) might not automatically launch it in the QT Movie Player. Should that be the case, you can manually launch the pose from within the QT Movie Player using the ÒFILE/ OPEN FILEÓ command in the QT Movie Player application menu bar).

IN CLOSING

We would like to thank you again for your support.

And to all the artists who took the time off their busy schedules to voice their opinion and offer us valuable suggestions, or just to give us encouragement, we extend a special thank you and we hope you like your new VP!

Sincerely,

Mario Henri Chakkour
